My French Teacher ("we", "us", "the platform") is an online marketplace connecting students with independent French language tutors. The platform is operated as an auto-entrepreneur registered in France. We are an intermediary: we do not provide teaching services ourselves, and we do not sell lessons. Each lesson is a service sold directly by the teacher to the student.
We provide a platform for booking one-on-one French lessons via video call, handling scheduling, secure payment processing, and communication tools. Teachers are independent contractors, not employees of My French Teacher.
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use the platform.
Lesson prices are fixed platform-wide and displayed in euros (€), inclusive of our service fee. Payments are processed securely via Stripe. The teacher is the seller of the lesson and the merchant of record for the transaction — My French Teacher only charges a service fee for the booking, scheduling, and payment infrastructure. Each teacher is independently responsible for their own tax and invoicing obligations regarding the lessons they sell.
When purchasing a multi-lesson pack, you benefit from a discounted per-lesson rate. If you stop using a pack before completing all lessons, the lessons already taken are recalculated at the standard per-lesson rate (rather than the discounted pack rate). The price difference becomes due as an adjustment payment. You will receive a payment link by email, and reminders at 3 and 7 days. Until the adjustment is paid, your account will be unable to book new lessons. The discount only applies if all lessons in the pack are completed.
Lessons cannot be cancelled directly by students or teachers. Instead, either party may reschedule a lesson to a new available time slot, provided this is done at least 24 hours before the originally scheduled time. This policy protects both students and teachers from payment processing losses caused by frequent cancellations. If you are genuinely unable to attend and rescheduling is not possible, please contact us directly — exceptional cancellations and refunds are handled by our team on a case-by-case basis.
Every booking request must be explicitly accepted by the teacher before it is confirmed. If a teacher declines a request that has already been paid for, the student is refunded in full automatically, including our service fee — no fee is retained by the platform on a declined lesson.
Reviews may come from two sources: verified lessons completed on the platform, or external reviews submitted by a teacher's past students via an invite link shared by the teacher. External reviews are clearly identified as such where displayed and reflect the reviewer's own stated experience; we do not independently verify the identity or claims of external reviewers beyond the content they submit.
Users must treat teachers and other users with respect. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate our community standards.
Teaching materials shared during lessons remain the property of the respective teacher. You may not record lessons without explicit consent from your teacher.
My French Teacher is a marketplace and is not liable for the quality of individual lessons, which are the responsibility of the independent teacher providing them. We provide our platform "as is" and make no guarantees regarding learning outcomes.
